What is it?

The IRBLleida Flow Cytometry Core Facility provides support to users in the acquisition of cell suspension samples using flow cytometry. The facility is equipped with several instruments that allow the analysis of cellular populations within these samples and, when required, their isolation.

The applications currently offered by the Flow Cytometry Core Facility include cell cycle studies, oxidative stress analysis, immunophenotyping, apoptosis assays, cytokine quantification using bead arrays, transfection efficiency assessment, among others. In addition, the cell sorter enables the isolation of specific cell populations of interest into different collection formats.

What equipment is available?

  • Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX SRT cell sorter housed in a Class II biosafety cabinet: 4 lasers (405 nm, 488 nm, 563 nm and 635 nm), detection of up to 15 different markers, and sorting into 5 mL and 15 mL tubes, microscope slides and multiwell plates.
  • Becton Dickinson FACSCanto II analyser: 3 lasers with a 4-2-2 configuration and detection of 8 different colours.
  • Miltenyi Biotec AutoMACS Pro magnetic cell sorter housed in a Class II biosafety cabinet.

What services do we offer?

  • Experimental design consultancy.
  • Technical support and training in sample acquisition and cell sorting using the facility's instruments.
  • Sample acquisition using the flow cytometer and cell sorter with operator assistance.
  • Technical support for data analysis using the software available at the facility, including BD FACSDiva, FlowJo, BC CytExpert SRT, FlowLogic, ModFit LT and FCAPArray.
