Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+I)
The IRBLleida forms part, since June 2019 (update January 2021 and April 2023), of the Network of Scientific Culture and Innovation Units (UCC+I) as an accredited member.
The Units of Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+I) of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) act as intermediaries between the institutions that host them and citizens with the main objective of promoting scientific, technological culture and innovation, through activities of different types: scientific communication, dissemination, training, etc.
They have become one of the main agents in the dissemination of science and innovation in Spain, and constitute a key service to improve and increase the training, culture and scientific knowledge of citizens.
The aim of the UCC+I Network is to promote the exchange of experiences and the search for synergies between entities, which improves the quality of UCC+I products and services and promotes the optimization of resources.
The objective of the registry is to establish the minimum requirements that a Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit must fulfill in order to be considered as such and, in this way, to become part of the UCC+I directory of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, coordinator of the Network.
Scientific dissemination
IRBLleida works to ensure that its research is known and understood by society as a whole. Research staff engage with the public to learn about their concerns, problems and priorities. In turn, the public finds these activities a source of credibility. In the field of scientific dissemination, IRBLleida works to establish effective channels of cooperation between science and society, to publicise the excellent research carried out by its professionals and the centre's social and responsible awareness, and to strengthen relations with the region and health institutions.
Science education
IRBLleida works to stimulate scientific vocations among primary, secondary and sixth form students, and to promote an interdisciplinary and participatory approach to science learning. Through educational projects, we strengthen students' skills in the field of biomedicine and promote healthy habits and health awareness.
