What is it?

CREBA (Centre for Applied Biomedical Experimental Research), located in the town of Torrelameu (Lleida), is an IRBLleida facility dedicated to research and continuing professional development in the fields of healthcare and biomedicine, primarily through the use of porcine models.

It was established by the Lleida Provincial Council and IRBLleida in response to the growing demand for specialised, high-quality facilities for translational research and the continuing professional development of healthcare professionals.

What equipment is available?

The CREBA facilities are located on a site of approximately 2,900 m² designed to host training activities for up to 30 participants, as well as to support other surgical or interventional training activities, and to carry out biomedical research projects using porcine models.

Specifically, amongst other facilities, CREBA has the following equipment:

  • Four experimental operating theatres equipped for conventional surgery, endoscopic surgery and interventional radiology. Total capacity: 9 operating tables or practical training stations.
  • Simulation room with equipment for learning laparoscopic surgery and other techniques.
  • A teaching classroom with capacity for 30 people.
  • A meeting room with capacity for 10 people.
  • A laboratory for the preparation of biological samples.
  • A pig housing area, with experimental zones.

What services do we offer?

CREBA has material and human resources specialising in providing technical and logistical support for research and teaching activities involving the use of pig models, from drafting the project proposal through to compiling reports on the results.
