External Scientific Advisory Board (eSAB)
Description
The External Scientific Advisory Board is an independent advisory body composed of renowned experts who support the Board of Trustees and the Management in assessing the Institute's scientific activity. Its mission is to promote scientific excellence at IRBLleida and contribute to the definition of its strategic development priorities.
Functions
- To advise the Board of Trustees and the Executive Management on matters related to the Institute's scientific strategy and development.
- To evaluate the scientific performance, progress and positioning of IRBLleida.
- To provide independent expert recommendations to strengthen research excellence and international competitiveness.
- To assess the scientific quality and impact of the Institute's research activities.
- To identify emerging opportunities, challenges and trends in biomedical research.
- To contribute to the definition and review of IRBLleida's strategic scientific priorities.
- To promote adherence to the highest standards of scientific quality, integrity and research excellence.
Composition
- Dr.Ángeles Almeida Parra, doctor of Pharmacy. Scientific assistant director of the Biomedical Research Institute of Salamanca (IBSAL). Head of the Molecular Neurobiology Group in the IBSAL and the Institute of Biology and Functional Genomics (IBFG). Associate Professor of the University of Salamanca.
- Dr. Joan Comella Carnicé, Director of the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD).
- Dr. Claudia Faria, neurosurgeon at Hospital de Santa Maria, Portugal. Coordinator of the Brain Tumor Bank in Portugal, co-director of the Biobank at Biobanco-iMM/CAML in Lisbon, president of the Portuguese Neuro-oncological Association (APNO) and chair of the Young Investigators & Innovators Group of the European Society for Pediatric Oncology's Brain Tumor Group (SIOP-E BTG), among other leadership positions.
