Environtmental Sustainability Committee

Presentation

The Environmental Sustainability Committee is the body responsible for promoting, coordinating and monitoring initiatives aimed at improving environmental sustainability at IRBLleida. The committee supports the Institute's commitment to sustainable development by encouraging environmentally responsible practices in research, management and day-to-day operations. Working collaboratively with the Institute's management team, researchers and support services, the committee promotes a culture of environmental awareness and continuous improvement, contributing to the reduction of environmental impact and the efficient use of resources. It also supports the integration of sustainability principles into institutional policies and activities, in line with national and international sustainability frameworks.

Functions

  • To design, implement and evaluate the Environmental Sustainability Action Plan.
  • To promote environmental sustainability in the planning, execution and dissemination of research projects.
  • To minimise the environmental impact of scientific events, travel and resource use.
  • To encourage the use of virtual meetings and sustainable transport whenever possible.
  • To promote green purchasing practices and the use of reusable or biodegradable materials.
  • To raise staff awareness of sustainability in research.
